On October 4, 2008 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Dodgers completed the three-game-sweep over the heavily favored Chicago Cubs in the National League Divisional Series
Coming into the Major League Baseball playoffs; the Chicago Cubs entered as the number one seed and were favored to represent the National League in the 2008 Worlds Series. They were positioned against the Los Angeles Dodger, the team that won the NL West. The Cubs had 5 wins and 2 loses in their 2008 match-ups against the Dodgers. With a 3 wins and 0 loses record when facing them at home and the Cubs having home field advantage for the playoffs, the Cubs were heavily favored to advance to the World Series.
As the playoffs began, the Cubs were surprised after the Dodgers posted 7 runs versus the Cubs two in game one. The Cubs followed up with another loss in game two by a score of 10 to 3 and again in game 3 by a score of 3-1. The Dodgers completed this sweep and kept the curse of the billy goat alive.
